Our Founder
Yentram (Tram) Huyen, Ph.D.
FOUNDER & SENIOR MANAGING PARTNER
Tram’s career has been shaped by a love for science and a passion to drive new products and technologies that can advance scientific insight. A molecular biologist by training at the University of Pennsylvania who burned out from the lab, she built and led high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams in both the federal and private sectors to address new market needs in the life science, biomedical research, consumer health, health IT, and medical device spaces.
Tram’s career journey began at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) where she was the first contract hire for a new technology services team charged with training intramural scientists on new bioinformatics tools. As computing capabilities advanced and high-throughput sequencing began to take off, Tram identified a need for a team to support the development of custom tools that leveraged high performance computing to accelerate biomedical research. With an eye to the future, Tram continued to proactively research new and emerging technologies and identify opportunities. She eventually rose to Branch Chief and built a high performing, dedicated team of federal and contract staff, all from the roots of her training team.
Her career continued at Intel Corporation, where she was rapidly promoted to lead the east coast team for the Americas Health and Life Sciences vertical to focus on developing, incubating, and validating solutions in the health and life sciences market space. She came to realize that her passion for advancing science through collaboration was not aligned with profit-driven priorities and explored opportunities to return to the federal biomedical ecosystem, landing at the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program, an innovative effort to build a cohort of one million or more individuals who share their health and lifestyle data with researchers to accelerate medical breakthroughs. At All of Us, Tram served in a variety of roles, including Senior Technology Advisor to the Chief Technology Officer, Acting Chief of Staff for the Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Innovation, helping formulate the program’s long-term vision and strategy and rapidly iterate and incubate innovative solutions to program challenges.
In founding Covalent Solutions, LLC, Tram aimed to build a company centered on strong relationships, trust, and impactful innovation. Drawing on her expertise in health, life sciences, and technology as a contractor, federal employee, and leader in the technology private sector, she aims to build a company that stands at the intersection of science and technology. For Tram, success is about building meaningful connections—because when our partners succeed, we succeed.
